John Macdonald Coubrough 1,2
- Born: Abt 1846, Thornliebank, Eastwood, Renfrew, Scotland
- Marriage (1): Ann Inwood on 17 Feb 1870 in Luton, Luton, Bedford & Hertford Co, England
- Died: 18 Dec 1928, England about age 82
John married Ann Inwood, daughter of Thomas Inwood and Jane Wallace, on 17 Feb 1870 in Luton, Luton, Bedford & Hertford Co, England. (Ann Inwood was born about 1841 in Haddenham, Buckinghamshire, England.)
John next married Louisa Amelia Adcock.
March 2, 2002:
According to research done by Rodney and Carolyn (Elvidge) Willis, they now believe Amelia was actually John's second wife, rather than his first, as they had previously supposed. However, they still don't know the actual date of the second marriage, but as all of John's children were from his first wife, it can probably be safely assumed that he married Amelia sometime after the youngest was born.
Further, according to the 'Dictionary of Scottish Emigrants into England & Wales,' Volume 1, (Compiled by the Anglo-Scottish Family History Society, 1989), Page 14:
COUBROUGH, JOHN, Superintendent, Prudential Insurance Company, born Glasgow. In 1881 was aged 35 and living at 9 Gwydir St., Toxteth Park, Liverpool. His wife ANN then aged 40, born Haddenham, Bucks. Their daughters MARGARET (10) and AGNES (5) were born at Stofford, Beds. ANNIE (8) born Liverpool and BESSIE (2) born Seacombe, Cheshire.
Thus is seems also safe to assume that since John's first wife, Ann, was apparently still living in 1881, he was not yet married to Amelia by that time.
