Here is an item from the Maryland State archieves pertaining to a suit brought by Peter Joy concerning what his wife's mother had done with her husband's estate. Apparently Dorothy Goldson had remarried a couple of times and her husband was not following the will with regard to the disposal of Daniel's estate. We are not sure how the entire thing turned out:

78 Provincial Court Proceedings, 1663.

That whereas Daniel Goldson, who was father to yor Petrs wife,

. DANIEL GOLSON immigrated to Maryland in 1650 and settled on the Patuxent River. He brought with him his wife SARAH GOLSON, and a son MATHEW GOLSON(Patents ABH: 322). According to THE ARCHIVES OF MARYLAND PETER JOY tried to obtain what was due to his wife and her brother " The young DANIEL GOLSON" In the Provincial Court Proceedings of 1663. The record states that DANIEL GOLSON "was father to PETER's Wife, and that when Daniel GOLSEON died he left a considerable estate in the hands of "DOROTHY his Wife"

also:

DOROTHY ______GOLSON was the second wife of DANIEL GOLSON. As a widow DOROTHY married secondly GILES SADLER, an Attorney in Calvert County. According to patents DOROTHY SADLER widow of GILES SADLER married HUGH STANLEY, Gentleman, prior to 1663. HUGH STANLEY, the third husband of DOROTHY, died by 11/13/1669 when his will was probated (1:353) (5:409). HUGH STANLEY did not mention any step- children when he wrote his will a couple of years prior. He did mention that his wife may have been with child.
