According to Darshan Dawson (DDadson @asu.edu) Johann was driven from his homeland along the Rhine River and he and his family ended up in New York about 1710. Johann brought his family up the Hudson River. His sons moved up to the Mohawk River where son, Conrad, and two other men received Land Grants from King George II of 2,000 acres.
