Peter Ashby's will is filed in Will Book 3, Hopkins County, Kentucky, page 210 dated 28 Jan 1833, proved Feb 1833. Peter is
credited with Revolutionary War Service as a Private under Captain James Parsons, marched to Pittsburgh and down the Ohio
below Whelling, "The Point" and assisted in burying Captain Furman and about 20 men who had been killed there by the
Indians. He enlisted in 1781 and served more than three months in pursuit of Tories. He then moved to Mercer County,
Kentucky and still later to Hopkins County, Kentucky.

Peter married Winnefred Timmons, daughter of Henry T. Timmons and Elizabeth Hubbard Green, in 1776 in Virginia. (Winnefred Timmons was born in 1764 in Frederick County, Virginia and died on 10 Aug 1839 in Hopkins County, Kentucky.)
