Hunley was born on 22 Jan 1830 in Ohio County, Kentucky, died on 1 Aug 1878 in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky and was buried in Aug 1878 in Hopewell Cemetery, Ohio County, Kentucky.)

Alney next married Martha (Mattie) Ann Smith, daughter of William Bradford Smith and Susan Jackson, on 26 Aug 1879 in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky. (Martha (Mattie) Ann Smith was born on 3 Oct 1849 in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, died on 7 Nov 1938 in Ohio County, Kentucky and was buried on 8 Nov 1938 in Hopewell Cemetery, Ohio County, Kentucky.)
