bullet  Marriage Notes:

From the Scottish Civil Records, 1881 Marriages in the Parish of Eastwood in the County of Renfrew:

1881 on the Twenty ninth day of April at Thornliebank after Banns according to the Forms of the Established Church of Scotland. David Coubrough, Printfields Labourer, Bachelor, 25, Thornliebank, [son of] Robert Coubrough, Cotton Cloth Lapper, dec. [and] Mary Coubrough, Formerly Gunn, M.S. The 1901 British census was conducted in about April. Every page contained this header. Those items which did not apply were supposed to have a line drawn through them, but they were often just left blank. In the transcripts which follow, any items left blank in the original have not been entered.

Also on every page were the following column headings. These are represented by numbers in the transcripts as there was not room on the page to copy them all. The columns labelled "No. of Schedule;" "Road, Street, &c., and No. or Name of House" and "Rooms with one or more windows" are at the beginning of each entry to save space as there was only one entry per family in each column. The columns headed "Gaelic or G. & E." and "Whether: 1. Deaf and Dumb. 2. Blind. 3. Lunatic, Imbecile, or Idiot" rarely had entries for any of the Coubroughs. When they did, this is noted in the "notes section at the end of each entry.

1. Name and Surname of each Person.

Myrna's notes: There were 6 families on this page at this address, all but one of whom had 2 windowed rooms. The exception had only one window. David and Mary are at the bottom of the page, and their son Charles is the last person on the page. Baby John is all by himself at the top of the next page. I couldn't find any Susan listed in the index with this family, so I would guess that Mary must have been pregnant with her at the time of the census.
