Marriage Notes:
July 12, 2002: I received this e-mail today from a woman named Pat Hamilton, who is the daughter of William & Jane's youngest daughter, Mary Crawford Coubrough.
Hi;
My name is C. Patricia Hamilton "Pat". I am so excited to find your site. I have done Family History Work for years but never just entered "Coubrough" into the internet to see what would come up. Imagine my surprise to find there are actually real live Coubrough's besides my cousins, my mother, and my brother. We felt the line had basically died out except for the occasional one who would pop up. I am sad that I didn't find your site before as my mother and I would have gone to the reunion in Kingston. Nevertheless, I am glad to find you.
How I am a Coubrough. Well my mother is a real Coubrough. Her parents were William Dowall Coubrough and Jane Mcarthur. I see you have her older brothers and sisters listed--Matthew/Elizabeth/Margaret. There was another brother William I believe born in Scotland then they moved to Northern Ireland. In N.I. my aunt Jean Mcarthur was born and my mother Mary Crawford. William Dowall C. died on 11 Jan 1936 in Belfast N.I. Jane Mcarthur died14 Feb 1967 in Belfast.
All of my mother's family are deceased except her.
I have traced my Coubrough's back to Matthew Coubrough b. 1805 and have felt that he was a son of James Coubrough and Jane Muir but could never make a documented case other than the dates and names corresponded. How did you make the connection? Is it an educated guess or do you have proof? I found three children for James and Jane but you have come up with several others. Are they documented as well?
I thank you for your site and any help you can be to me in research. I will send you on my work as soon as I type into new PAF program. I think I can add a couple more dates and correct a couple eg. Margaret Dowall birthdate-26 Sept 1844 and Jeannie Allan Coubrough married Robert Campbell. But thank you for the date as I didn't have that. I remember her quite well as she used to visit us in Belfast. There are no children.
Am delighted to find another Canadian connection--we arrived 10 Oct 1950 on the Empress of Canada. Have been here ever since except for brief sojurn in U.S.--I am Family History Director of LDSchurch and just love this work so much.
regards, Pat
