Charles Grigsby, II was married to Betsy Lytle, a native of Wales. They were pioneers in Western Pennsylvania and Virginia. An Indian uprising in June 1777 took the lives of Betsy Grigsby and five children. Three year old Reuben was taken to Ohio, where he remained a prisoner seven years. Reuben Grigsby for $150.00, by power of attorney from Charles and Eliz. Grigsby sells to John Ruff the undivided share of Lot #1, on which is 195 ft. and 128 1/3 ft. Bounded on Northwest by Main St., and on Southwest by Nelson St., on Southeast by Lot #__ and on Northeast by David Shield's Lot. Being the same lot Samuel Wallace lived on preceding his death. James Wallace and wife, Andrew Wallace, Anderson Wallace and wife for $166.00 sell to John Ruff their shares of aforesaid lot.
