Charles Grigsby, II was married to Betsy Lytle, a native of Wales. They were pioneers in Western Pennsylvania and Virginia. An Indian uprising in June 1777 took the lives of Betsy Grigsby and five children. Three year old Reuben was taken to Ohio, where he remained a prisoner seven years. Charles II married Mary Bradford approximately 1778.

Samuel Wallace bought in his lifetime, Lot #1 in Town of
Lexington. Heirs are named: James Wallace; Charles Grigsby and
Elizabeth his wife; John Ruff, and Martah his wife; Andrew Wallace,
and Anderson Wallace.
Running parallel with Main street, with David Shield's lot, 128
1/3 ft., to Lot #3; with same 195 ft. to corner of Lot #3 on Nelson
St., with said street 128 1/3 ft to Main Street and with Main
Street, 195 ft.

Reuben Grigsby, attorney in fact for Charles Grigsby and
Elizabeth his wife of first part; James Wallace & Elizabeth his
wife, Andrew Wallace, Anderson Wallace and Mary his wife of 2nd
part, and John Ruff of 3rd part.
Reuben Grigsby for $150.00, by power of attorney from Charles
and Eliz. Grigsby sells to John Ruff the undivided share of Lot #1,
on which is 195 ft. and 128 1/3 ft. Bounded on Northwest by Main
St., and on Southwest by Nelson St., on Southeast by Lot #__ and on
Northeast by David Shield's Lot. Being the same lot Samuel Wallace
lived on preceding his death.
James Wallace and wife, Andrew Wallace, Anderson Wallace and
wife for $166.00 sell to John Ruff their shares of aforesaid lot.
Bounded as follows: 98 ft front and extendng that width back
128 1/3 ft, bounded on Northwest by Main St., on Southwest by Nelson
St., on Southeast by lot #3 which is Henry McClung's and on the NE
by another part of lot #1, sold to John Thompson.
