Rebecca Lamar 2
General Notes:
Troutman Families Of Kentucky by Evelyn Crady Adams
Rebecca Beard, Michael's first wife, was the daughter of John Beard of Frederick County. She and Michael were married in 1762. Their oldest child, John, pays loving tribute to Rebecca in a packet of extraordinary letters written from 1812 to 1815 from Milledgeville, Georgia, to his brother Leonard in Nelson County, Kentucky. John wrote a short time after his father's death in Bullitt County, "I well remember the industry of our dear mother, whom it was the will of the Almighty to call from us when we were all young to struggle in this hard world... and I hope is now with the angels in Heaven." In March, 1815, he wrote that his daughter Joanna Lamar had named her first child Rebecca "after our dear mother."
