PETER JOY wrote his will on 8/13/1733 and it was probated on 4/12/1740 (22: 166). He desired all his debts and funeral expences to be paid first. To his wife (unnamed) he left the dwelling plantation and 1/3 of his personal estate. To his sons CHARLES, IGNATIUS, ENOCH, JOHN BAPTIST and Athanatius he left land in Talbot County, Maryland to be devidede between them. He also gave Enoch two ewes, lambs, a sow and pigs, over and above what he had formerly given to him as his part of the personal estate. The residue of his estate was to be devided between CHARLES, IGNATIUS, JOHN BAPTIST ATHANATIUS, SARAH, MARY, and Elinor. His son IGNATIUS was named as his executor. IGNATIUS JOY administered the estate of PETER JOY on 4/16/1740, which was valued at £88.16.09. The next of kin on his inventory were his sons CHARLES JOY and ENOCH JOY(25:78).
