Rufus Bunyon House was born in Butler Co on 28 FEb 1875, died 10 Dec 1949. He was buried at Walnut Grove Cemetery, He was one of nine children born to Iddo House (1837-1907) and Lydia Ann Bratcher House (1846-1923). Both were born in Butler Co. Lydia Ann was the daughter of Captain Joe Bratcher (1810-1879). Iddo House was the son of John House, grandson of McCajah House. Rufus Bunyan House had eight brothers and sisters, Mattie, Guyrunda, Mertie, Cora, Edith O., Ella Catherine, Joseph M., and Joseph A. Rufus Bunyon House was of Irish and Dutch descent. Both Bunyon's father, Iddo House, a Civil War Veteran, and his grandfather, Capatin Joe Bratcher were Masons. They each belonged to Cassia Lodge 272 of Morgantown, Kentucky. Iddo House was elected Master in 1872 and served in other branches throught 1892. Captain Joe Bratcher was elected treasure in 1872 and at various other times until his death in 1895. Bunyon's mother, Lydia Ann House, was a charter member of Eastern Star, Lebanon (Logansport) Kentucky. It became Lelia Dixon Chapter 397 O.E.S. of Morgantown, Kentucky.
Seven descending generations of Captain Joe Bratcher are buried in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Post Office Eden, Kentucky, later Aberdeen, Kentucky.

On 04 July 1897, Bunyon House married NANNIE GOODALL, born 15 August 1874, died 15 June 1915. Her father was JOSEPH HIRAM GOODALL (1833-1906) and her mother was JOSEPHINE YOUNG GOODALL (1838-1929). They were married on 12 February 1856. She was the granddaughter of ALFRED YOUNG, (1807-1863) and BARBARA HINES YOUNG (1804-1881). She was the great grand daughter of HENRY HINES SR. (1732-1810) and ELIZABETH HARVEY HINES.
NANNIE GOODALL had 12 brothers and sisters; Hester, Virginia, Martha, Nancy, Yettie, James Alford (Jim), CHARLEY BELL, Joseph (Joe), THOMAS BELL, Robert (Bob), David (Dave), and ELBERT. Nannie's grandfather was born in England and came to Virginia at the age of eighteen. Her mother's great-grandfather Henry Hines Sr., was reared in Campbell Co, VA. He was a soldier in the Revolutionary War. The four children by his second marriage to ELIZABETH HARVEY HINES were; SIMEON W., BARBARA, NANCY, WALTON.
The Hines all settled in Butler Co sometime between 1803 and 1820. Henry Hines Sr., and children had a good English education. He was prosperous planter in Virginia and owned many slaves.

Born to this union were Rayond, Roy, and Anna B. Chippie Joe b 11 Mar 1904, and d 26 Apr 1942, married 22 July 1923 to Pearlie Mae Render, b 09 Feb 1905. Born to this union Joseph, Norma, Roscoe, and Anna Pearl.
ZORA ETHEL b 28 Jan 1908 married Noble B. Wallace Sr., on 20 Dec 1940. Noble Sr., had a six year son by a former marriage. Noble B. Wallace Jr., b 04 Apr 1934. Iddo H b and d 09 Oct 1909.
Rixie Blondell b 05 January 1911.
Anna Christine b 27 Oct 1912 married Tom Cox 22 May 1937.
Infant son born and died June 1915.

Rufus Bunyan House and NANNIE GOODALL HOUSE attended the Old Normal Schoool in Morgantown, KY. After earning teaching certificates, both taught in Butler Co schools in the late 1800's and early 1900's. They owned and farmed approximately five hundred acres of land on Green River, dealing in livestock, later dealing in merchandising in Morgantown, oil leasing in Butler and surrounding counties, partner in the SMITH FUNERAL HOME, while continuing farming. A very successful businessman until the Great Depression in 1930. Rufus Bunyon House a Presbyterian and NANNIE was a member of Green River Missionary Baptist Church. Rufus Bunyon took his family to church regularly. They went in a surrey, horseback, and later a car. NANNIE taught the Young Adults Sunday School Class for many years. Bunyan House, Henry Rock, and Jul ? Morris owned and drove the first cars in the Walnut Grove community in the early 1900's.

ZORA ETHEL taught in the Butler County school system for 43 years, and CHRISTINE taught in the same system for 41 years. Both ZORA ETHEL and CHRISTINE, graduates of Western Kentucky Teachers College (later named Western Kentucky University), Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Joe House, Bunyan's brother, was an owner in Bunyan's business and real estate many years.
