" Samuel is the son of Benedict Jarboe and Drusilla Coombs. He moved from WV to KY along with other members of his family and must have fallen on hard times there in 1831. He indentured himself to the Sister's at Mt. Carmel. " Wishing to provide a home for himself", he signed an agreement to work for the Sister's and waive any right to a wage in turn for them to " pay his sundry debts ".

He married Elizabeth Lewis Jan 22, 1839 in Davis Co, KY. He was 53 years old at that time. She was 35 . In Feb 1855 the county court declared that " Samuel JARBOE is so old and feeble and not able to make support being destitute ", William Cannon be paid to care for him.

The 1860 Federal Census shows his wife Elizabeth living with William and Louisa Gregory. Walter was living with his Aunt Cassandra (Jarboe) Blandford. Matilday has not been located as of yet. But believed to have been married and moved to Texas.

Samuel has a death certificate that states he died of old age in Breckinridge Co, KY, Oct 11, 1861. It also states that he was a farmer by trade. This family was Catholic."

Samuel married Elizabeth Lewis on 22 Jan 1839. (Elizabeth Lewis was born on 18 Feb 1803 in Virginia and died after 1860.)
